Peggy Lock's work has been described as having a fresh contemporary quality combined with a strong sense of design. A quote from Chuck Close, "Ideas come from work, not work from ideas" sums up her approach to her practice. Consequently her work is an eclectic mix which is both unusual and unexpected.
Looking and seeing is a driving force, images are based on direct observation and have been shaped by a range of artists and disciplines.
Prints and paintings are of landscapes, wildlife and English ceramics seen through a different perspective. She is involved with the idea of juxtaposing directly observed form with man made images. Two and three dimensions are made deliberately ambiguous to draw the viewer in and engage with the work. Shapes are fused in order to convey a sense of daydreaming or to evoke memories of time and place.
Intricately cut lino prints, detailed paintings, intensely coloured abstracted paintings, and textile work in felt and yarn are included in Peggy Lock's works. She is always happy to engage in conversation about her practice and in your interests and aspirations, and may be contacted by email via the "Contacts" page.
